Wendy Pelletier has worked in civil engineering and surveying, with local companies and in Maine, since 1986. In 2009 she became licensed as a land surveyor and started her own land surveying business, working directly with property owners and local planning boards. Pelletier is dedicated to providing prompt, quality surveying services in southwestern New Hampshire.  “Operating a business for the first time is a daunting task” says Pelletier. “I know how to be a land surveyor, but not how to do accounting, write business plans, budgets, marketing, etc.”

She first heard about Hannah Grimes’ Business Incubator Program from Incubator Program Associates Peter Harris (Peter Harris Creative) and Mike Petrovick (Michael Petrovick, Architect). As fellow Business Networking International members they spoke about the great opportunity the incubator program presented. Most interesting to Pelletier was the business support combined with the affordable rent. She joined the Business Incubator Program in July of 2012 on a three month trial and became a full time associate in October 2012.

According to Pelletier, “the greatest benefit of the program is the wonderful professional and business support from other members and the staff, and the NH Small Business Development Center, which has an office here as well.” In addition to the business support and attractive office environment, she experienced an unexpected benefit: “renting an office here is more than just occupying a space it’s like belonging to a family. It beats working from home all alone hands down. There is always someone around to chat with, share an idea with, or brainstorm with.”

Pelletier’s business goals include having a staff of 1-2 part time people by the end of 2015 and to be a prominently recognized in the community as a leading, high quality land surveyor. Like her colleagues Harris and Petrovick, she recommends the Business Incubator Program and Hannah Grimes’ Entrepreneur Project (she is a graduate) to others, noting “I think anyone starting out in business would be wise to avail themselves of the resources at Hannah Grimes. Why re-invent the wheel?”
